Books

So I’m reading Candide by Voltaire because I have to, AP English required reading. But I like it. I have to say that its satire is refreshingly subtle. Yes, refreshing, even though it was written in either the 16 or 1700s.

Also, reading Fight Club. And I love it. I am only halfway-ish through, but I just enjoy Chuck’s perspective. It just really all works.

I feel like flying

Well, not really.
Well, yes I do.
But, not in the way that you think. Not the “Oh, everything is amazing, Hallelujah” way.
More like the “Oh, crap, when is this going to be over” way.
I just watched He’s Just Not That Into You for the first time and I thought it would suck, but it was actually kind of decent in the whole chick flick-y way. Oh my gosh, I know I have my whole life to find someone, but for a movie with that “Oh, I am going to break all stereotypes about relationships” title-vibe, it sets up a bunch of cliches just waiting to click.
Whatever, it was cute. I am now hungry. Good night. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Justin Long was my favorite in the movie, by the way. He has that whole sense of neurotic cuteness thing going on.

Death Cab

This is fact, not fiction for the first time in years. I am going to perfect “A Lack of Color.”

To gossipgirlshhs:

So, I have a formspring. Yeah, I know. It’s kind of stupid. I mean, you know that you’ll get a bunch of questions about how many people hate you and stuff. But, I did it. Spur of the moment thing. And I guess this website invention is just another descent into our internet-dependent world. I mean, we can’t even face conflicts anymore. We have to use a stupid website like formspring to let people know how we REALLY feel about them.
And the facade that we put up brings me to our most recent “Gossip Girl” in our school, someone (or four girls) who feels they can use “tips” to get dirt on everyone else. She (or they) isn’t really the culprit here. It;’s the people who let her know about every little secret, the so-called “best friends”. It just shocks me that someone who rather divulge a secret that doesn’t even belong to them out to the entire internet than confront them about the issue they have with them.
My friend said, “Our generation is screwed” when she was talking about the lack of communication we have, our dependency on text messages instead of really phone calls et cetera et cetera. This just frustrates me beyond belief.
Good night.

Flaws and all

I love how these are shot. Even if these videos were of people not famous, it would still be amazing. They are highlighting the flaws and all.

I want to make a video about happiness interviewing people who are normal.

Just one rule, I don’t want to date a twin because I’ve been tricked before

It blows my mind how much funnier Parks and Rec has gotten this season. Last season, it sucked. This season, it is one of my favorites.
That Indian guy, Aziz Ansari, needs his own show. He is brilliant.

I think I was blind before I met you

I “jammed” with my friend yesterday. It was oh so fun and harmony-ful. We might upload on God’s gift, Youtube. Exciting

I am contributing to the downfall of CDs and tapes and records. Whatever, my record collection still stands. It is just so easy to get music that retailers around here don’t sell.
Are you going to get Crookers’ latest remixes or Little Boots’ latest covers at Target? Hell no.

Rediscovering this song: Absolutely Priceless

Wow.

58 million dollars raised by Hope for Haiti? My faith in humanity has been restored.

How can one dress this well all the time?!

Teach me.

A la Sartorialist

I just wish I could do more.

So, Wednesday was the Wear Red for Haiti thing, and I did. But, I kept thinking: Why?
I am by no means saying I do not feel for people there, but a color?
Yes, we should wear it for awareness. But, every self-respecting person already knows and is worried about the disaster.
Yes, we want others to know that we feel bad about it. Something in human nature dictates that by pressing “Attending” on a Facebook humanitarian event looks good on any newsfeed.
And yes, I have donated toward relief. But, even I, next to no one, saw Meryl Streep’s speech last Monday at the Globes about how to cope with living when you know so many out there are suffering. My sister might go out to Haiti to be a nurse there, and that is beyond amazing. But, there is always that helplessness. I just wish I could do more.
